New Concept Anchored by Retail, Co-Working, & Restaurant
March 23, 2023 — Athens, Ga.— Polias has announced plans for the former Stein Mart location in Beechwood Shopping Center at 196 Alps Rd.
Paseo: A New Experience at Beechwood will open Fall of 2023 and will be anchored by four retail tenants, a co-working space, one restaurant, and a church, with a corridor connecting them all.
Polias carries the vision to create spaces that cultivate community in Athens. The team was intrigued by the concept of a paseo experience, which is defined as “a leisurely walk or stroll.” To bring the idea to life, a large portion of the Stein Mart interior will be removed to create an outdoor walking path surrounded by tenants.
“Over the past 2 years, Beechwood has undergone several major renovations with the purpose of creating a more communal, more walkable experience for tenants and guests,” said Dave Mulkey, principal of Polias. “Our goal is always to continually improve the connectivity of our center and most importantly, the guest and tenant experience.”
This new era of redevelopment continues Polias’ journey to revive and maintain legacy at Beechwood Shopping Center. Known as one of the most iconic shopping centers in the area, Polias has added tenants like Kendra Scott, REI, Lululemon, Crumbl Cookies, and more since purchasing the property in 2019.
