When given the chance to design the sign for an eclectic renovation, there seemed to only be one choice.
Within the first few months of inspiration gathering and design meetings, 700 Baxter began to display an eclectic mood that really seemed like it called for neon in some way. Early on we new that we loved the way neon created atmosphere unlike anything else. Once we new that a totally new monument sign was going to be needed for development, it seemed like this was a perfect opportunity.
During the design of this sign Polias worked with local designer and fabricator Don Cope who has a storied history of great signage design throughout Athens. You’ve seen his work on the signage at Go Bar and retro monument sign of Ideal Bagel just to name two.
Initial placement constraints helped in defining both height and silhouette to maximize sign visibility coming from UGA campus toward the development. Below are some images of the process and the final result.
